Our scrolling header helps to view pertinent information at a glance. Information like contact info, bios, class schedules and notes are organized in a way that is easy to reference when viewing profiles.

Administrators and teachers can keep detailed notes on the goals, struggles, motivators, and current situations of each student to greater personalize their interactions and to help students stay focused and motivated.

The FlipSwitch PSP
Keeping Parents and Students Aware of Vital Information
FlipSwitch’s Parent Student Portal (PSP) is a multi-purpose communication and reporting hub within the Learning Management System. All information and data within the PSP is provided in “real time” including anything from notifications to grade book. Parents and students are also provided their own personal log-ins and have unique viewing privileges with respect to what they have access to see.
The Parent’s View
Parents can access the Parent Portal at any time of the day through a secure log-in password. Their access allows them to review their student’s attendance, class schedule, grades, graduation progress, and even teacher notes. Additionally within the PSP, parents can select the method in which they prefer to receive notifications from the school and the reason (grades, attendance). Options for delivery include email, text, cell, or home phone and can be delivered on a daily basis or in a weekly report.
The Community: The Hallways of Your Online School
Student Interaction
The Community is a virtual social network within the PSP that is exclusive to your school. Within the network students can post pictures, bios, communicate with one another about class work or socially, join clubs, vote, and “Like” or add friends similar to popular social networks like Facebook.
Completely Monitored
The Community however is unique in that it is a monitored environment with rules that can be established by the school. School staff can be assigned to oversee and set precedents regarding etiquette and appropriate content so the Community represents a safe environment for students to interact.
My Progress: A Guidance Counselor at Your Fingertips
Graduation ProgressWithin the PSP’s My Progress students have a comprehensive view of all the elements related to their progress toward graduation. Easy to read charts and graphs display such things as student’s current grade point average, future class requirements, and a projected timeline for graduation. Providing this level of detailed information takes the mystery out of the how’s and why’s behind a student’s performance and empowers a students to take action in the necessary areas. |
GuidanceTeachers and counselors can use the student dashboard feature to easily identify students who are having difficulty and implement measures to help students keep on track. Individualized benchmarks can be implemented to help establish measurable goals. Notifications or flags can also be made to appear when particular criteria (grades, attendance, etc.) are not met to keep both the teacher and student on task. |

Discussions
Students can collaborate within the Discussion portal by participating in threaded discussions providing a rich learning environment for students to express themselves in a more informal collaborative environment.

Within My Courses users can customize the views of lesson content. For example a user can have written content, a work problem and an instructional video all displayed simultaneously providing a synchronous way to relate the content being viewed or read with the questions being asked.
Personalize Display Themes
Students can customize their classroom interface by picking from a variety of colors and patterns to suit their tastes or mood. Additionally, at the completion of each activity students can weigh in with their opinions through a rating pole.

View Progress at a Glance
Within My Progress students can view detailed progress data concerning their current class schedule, attendance, GPA, graduation track, and future class requirements needed. This information is displayed in various ways, including charts and graphs that show progress over time. Students also have direct contact information to their student advisors and teachers and can contact them by simply clicking the contact message button.

Curriculum Design Philosophy
FlipSwitch’s curriculum team spent a great deal of thought and time when designing our course offerings. The primary objective of our lesson architecture is to provide a balanced lesson plan that is teen friendly. This includes using a comprehensive blend of methodologies and mediums that address the various learning styles and promote complete understanding of the subject matter at the conclusion of each course. The following represent two of these approaches.
ApplicationSubject matter mastery is not complete without applying the concepts being taught. In our courses each concept is presented three times and three different ways. To enhance understanding activities play a large role. These activities can either be “live” synchronous or asynchronous, but typically focus on mediums or technologies that engage young students and lend themselves to demonstrating the thought process of the student. |
MentoringFlipSwitch’s courses are designed to have a fair amount of teacher/student interaction. Each course lesson contains feedback tools where the teacher can provide detailed notes to a student regarding an assignment or activity. Students also have numerous ways to reach out the teacher. Additionally, to promote ongoing communication and feedback every lesson also contains unit long discussion projects that are mentored by the teacher. |
